gallery rosenfeld is proud to present Cesare Lucchini's new exhibition at the Mendrisio Museum of Art.
The Mendrisio Art Museum opens the 2023 exhibition season with a major anthology dedicated to the Ticino painter Cesare Lucchini (1941). Born in Bellinzona and one of the most important artists of his generation, Lucchini completed his training in 1965 at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, where he lived and worked for the next twenty years. At the end of the eighties, eager to get in touch with the German artistic and cultural scene, he moved to Germany where he held an atelier for a long time in Düsseldorf and Cologne. Today he lives and works in Lugano.
The exhibition intends to retrace – for the first time in Mendrisio – the main chapters of Lucchini's extraordinary career, from the expressionist results of the sixties and seventies to the influence of Pop Art to arrive at the comparison with the German Neue Wilden. However, particular importance is attributed to the most recent production which reveals, with incredible lucidity and equally profound poetry, a synthetic gesture in outlining the drama of our contemporary world, which has always been an inexhaustible iconographic source from which to draw.
