Gallery Rosenfeld is pleased to announce that Janhyang: Thu 30 April, 2026 by Korean artist Bongsu Park, has been acquired by MARV Museum for its permanent collection.
Conceived specifically for the museum's architectural spaces, the painting represents a significant milestone in Park's ongoing Janhyang series, a body of work that explores memory through the physical transformation of botanical matter. The acquisition reinforces MARV Museum's commitment to supporting ambitious site-responsive contemporary art while expanding its collection with works that foster dialogue between material experimentation, sensory perception, and cultural memory.
Created through Park's distinctive process of pressing living plants directly onto canvas over an extended period, the work allows natural pigments to imprint themselves onto the surface, producing an image that is not painted but organically formed through time. This intimate relationship between nature, duration, and memory lies at the heart of the artist's practice.
Designed in direct response to the museum's exhibition spaces, Janhyang: Thu 30 April, 2026 engages with the architecture of MARV Museum, creating a contemplative environment in which visual presence and the lingering traces of memory become inseparable. The acquisition ensures that the work will remain permanently accessible to the public as part of the museum's growing collection of contemporary art.
The acquisition follows the presentation of Fiori della Memoria, Bongsu Park's exhibition curated by Riccardo Freddo and Luca Baroni in collaboration with Gallery Rosenfeld. The exhibition introduced audiences to Park's multi-sensory practice, bringing together painting, sculpture, ceramics, performance, and olfactory compositions inspired by the Korean concept of Janhyang—the lingering resonance of scent and memory.
