Hot glass is drawn straight from the kiln and frozen in temporal motion. The resulting dynamic glass strands are suspended to form a crystalline figure that emanates light. Hovering above the terrestrial horizon, counterbalancing the gravitational pull of the earth, the figure points backwards to the stellar light of our age like an angel of history, reflecting the trajectory of progress as if in a mirror. The work references Klee's Angelus Novus, and through Walter Benjamin and Paul Virilio, considers the new theological vision that manifests through the contemporary technological gaze.
